The police car fleet in the Philippines has a pretty interesting mix of vehicles. For the most part, we see the ever ubiquitous Toyota Vios and Toyota Hilux. But we also commonly see the Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Nissan NV350 Urban, along with other models like the previous-generation Nissan Almera, Toyota Corolla Altis, and Isuzu D-Max.
Soon, there might be another one that could join the motor pool. Recently, Atoy Customs just presented what could be the ultimate police package for the Toyota Tamaraw. It’s a prototype for now, but the kit fitted to it would come handy in modern policing.
Atoy Llave himself shared to us photos of the Toyota Tamaraw police prototype, as well as the equipment added to the workhorse.

Of course, the first thing anyone will notice is the crew-cab body style with a bubble roof. At the moment, the Tamaraw is only offered as a single-cab, but that did’t stop the folks at Atoy Customs from extending the occupant area. It’s a fiberglass extension for now, but should the PNP approve it, the road-going version will have a full-metal body down the line. Who knows, there might even be a crew-cab version for non-police applications if you ask nicely enough.
But the package goes far beyond the four-door body, light bar, and sirens. Listed below is everything else that’s been fitted to the prototype.

The base vehicle for this police package is the long-wheelbase version of the Toyota Tamaraw. That also means a 2.4-liter turbodiesel that makes 148hp and 400Nm. It’s then mated to a five-speed manual and power is sent to the rear wheels. As it is, it’s safe to say that the Tamaraw already has robust mechanicals for police use as the Hilux has been part of the PNP fleet for decades now.
Will we see this Tamaraw on patrol soon? Well, as mentioned, it will all depend on the PNP. But should it be approved, we reckon there will be a lot of fighting over its keys down at the motor pool.
