What would you do if your campervan didn’t have quite as much space inside as you’d like? Buy a bigger camper, right?
Well, that’s not the solution that this Volkswagen Type 2 owner landed on. Instead, they bought a second Type 2 and embarked on creating a Frankenstein’s monster of a fifth-wheel tractor unit and trailer.
The result is completely excellent and is now up for auction on Car & Classic. The estimate? Somewhere between £45k and £55k. Jeepers. (P3.13 to P3.82 million)

Thankfully the Type 2’s old air-cooled flat-four hasn’t been asked to power this train. Instead there’s a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an automatic gearbox from an Audi S3 hiding under the coupling system.
Not having the cabin and drivetrain in one of the buses means that there’s more living space too, and that’s increased even more with a Westfalia-style roof and a fold-out awning.
Imagine the stir this thing would cause on the campsite.
