Those of you who’ve been listing crossovers to check out have another option to jot down. The Covenant Car Company (TCCCI), Chevrolet’s official local distributor, has just introduced a sporty new Trax to the local market, and it starts at just under P1.2 million.
Called the Chevrolet Trax Premier, the newest addition to the American brand’s local lineup is a more energetic take on the crossover. It’s available in two variants:
2020 Chevrolet Trax Premier
- Chevrolet Trax Premier LS – P1,185,888
- Chevrolet Trax Premier LT – P1,535,888
Underneath the hood of the 2020 Trax Premier is a familiar 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine capable of 140hp between 4,900-6,000rpm and 200Nm of torque between 1,850-4,900rpm. This mill comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
While the vehicle doesn’t boast any upgrades in terms of performance, it does look considerably sportier than its predecessor. This version of the crossover flaunts exclusive decals and blacked-out badging that builds on the model’s playful appearance. This Trax also runs on new wheels: 18-inch wheels in carbon grey for the LT variant and 16-inch ones for LS units.
All Trax Premier units come with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a cabin air ionizer, a dashcam, and up to 1,375 liters of luggage space. Only the LT variant, though, gets a MyLink infotainment setup with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, and navigation features (the LS has an Android-based infotainment system).
To help draw in customers, TCCCI is currently offering the vehicle with easy ownership financing plans. The Trax LS and LT are available via a P58,000 and P38,000 all-in low downpayment, respectively. Alternatively, you can drive home these vehicles via a 30% downpayment with 0% interest for up to 48 months.
Not bad, but the local crossover game is now more competitive than it’s ever been. How do you think the Trax Premier will stack up against its rivals?
