It seems Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is set to reveal its first new model for the year. A source has recently told Top Gear PH that a facelifted Toyota Wigo is set to be launched in the Philippines soon.
The current model we have (pictured above) is still the first-generation Wigo, but it’s already the refreshed version that was launched in 2017. While the model that’s supposedly set to arrive soon is still not an all-new version, we’ve been told that TMP has made some pretty substantial updates to its popular hatchback.
The refreshed Toyota Wigo will have a redesigned front grille similar to that of the refreshed Avanza launched last year. We have no photos yet as of this writing, but our guy tells us that the front fascia looks sportier than before, the foglamp surrounds have been restyled, and the trim flanking the logo has been blacked out.
Our source also tells us there will be no changes under the hood, but there will be some nifty upgrades to the interior. For starters—no pun intended—the facelifted Wigo will be equipped with push-start ignition. The A/C controls, just like the design of the car’s front end, will have the same layout as the Avanza’s. Other than that, there won’t be any more changes inside the cabin.
We have no word yet on local pricing. Again, these are all speculations at this point, but we’ll keep you posted once we do get confirmation. Watch this space.
