Guess what? Ford Philippines might be launching yet another Ranger variant in our market. This comes just less than a month after the carmaker updated its popular midsize pickup.
“Another variant?! Which one, then?” Good question. We’ve no confirmation yet. But based on the invite Ford Philippines has sent us, it appears to be the Ranger FX4 Max that’s on its way.
The Ranger FX4 Max is the macho-looking truck that Ford launched in Australia a few months back. This is the equivalent of the Tremor Off-road Package that the carmaker also launched in US a few days before that.
Check out the official invite:
You might say that this is merely the Raptor’s grille, but note that there’s the Ranger name spelled out on top—you won’t find that on the Ranger Raptor. Besides, that grille looks identical to the one on the FX4 Max as featured in our previous story. Take a closer look and you’ll see the resemblance.
So, assuming the upcoming launch will be for the FX4 Max, what are we getting with the new variant? Apart from the new grille, there are 17-inch wheels shod in all-terrain tires, new side steps, and a new Fox monotube front suspension setup.
The FX4 Max will also pack Ford’s punchy 210hp, 500Nm 2.0-liter bi-turbodiesel, so that means this thing will have more oomph than the majority of existing variants in the Ranger lineup.
Anyway, none of this is official yet as of this writing, so don’t quote us on anything. The event is scheduled for March 10, 2021, so we’ll bring you more details as we have them.
