Remember Great Wall Motor (GWM)? You know, the obscure Chinese brand that launched the Haval H9 here in the Philippines a while back? Well, the carmaker just showcased a bunch of cars, including a new Haval at the 42nd Bangkok International Motor Show, and suffice to say these newer models are a far cry from past GWM vehicle.
This is the Haval H6 Hybrid, and it easily looks way, way better than the H9 that previously arrived here. While it’s smaller and has fewer seats than the H9, the H6 does feature a snazzier, more modern-looking front end with a large grill and some sporty shapes and lines. There are new 19-inch wheels underneath, too.
But the real highlight with the new H6 is the powertrain. The all-new hybrid SUV packs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 130kW electric motor. The setup generates a combined output of 243hp and 530Nm of torque.
Unfortunately, we don’t get a glimpse of the interior, but GWM did say that it will have Level 2 Autonomous tech. There’s an integrated automated parking feature, auto-reversing assistance (ARA), and wisdom dodge system (WDS).
ARA memorizes directions when driving below 30kph and allows for automated reversing for up to 50m towards the memorized directions. WDS, meanwhile, detects and automatically avoids large vehicles. During overtakes, WDS can also automatically steer the vehicle back to the original lane for safer maneuvering.
The all-new Haval H6 Hybrid will be available in Thailand in the second quarter of this year. We know there are already a bunch of Chinese makes and models in our market, but do you think GWM should give it another shot and launch its new models here on our shores again?
