Peugeot announced its foray into the stacked pickup segment a year ago with the reveal of the Landtrek. Now, the French carmaker has fully unveiled its new truck, and it looks like something our pickup-loving market wouldn’t mind having.
The Landtrek ticks the two most important boxes: It has a stylish design and a capable diesel engine. Let’s take a closer look, starting with the design.
The actual model looks virtually identical to what we’ve been shown before, so there’s really nothing new to see here. It’s got a rugged overall look, but it’s also undeniably a Peugeot thanks to that prominent badge plastered on the large front grille.
As for the engine, Peugeot is sticking with the two engine options it mentioned at launch. That’s the 150hp, 350Nm 1.9-liter turbodiesel and the 210hp, 320Nm 2.4-liter turbopetrol. The former is mated exclusively to a six-speed manual, while the latter can be had with the same gearbox or a six-speed automatic.
No new photos of the interior have been shown, but Peugeot claims the cabin is a spacious one. What we do know is that the Landtrek gets a 10-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It also has hill-descent control that’ll be useful off-road, and a trailer swing control that’s vital when towing massive cargo.
The Landtrek can also be spec’d with exterior cameras and a 360-degree-view monitor to improve both on- and off-road experiences. Also, there are three body styles available: a double cab, a single cab, and a cab-and-chassis model.
The Landtrek will soon be available in significant markets in African and will eventually be sold in the Middle East, according to Peugeot. No mention of its arrival in Asia, so don’t get your hopes up.
