By the time this is published, we’re less than 24 hours away from the global reveal of the sixth-generation Toyota RAV4. It’s been a long time coming, too, since it’s been about seven years since the current model made its world premiere.

But before Toyota pulls the sheets off once and for all, the company is giving us yet another teaser. This time, it shows more of the popular crossover’s exterior, and it’s safe to say that it’s going in a bolder, boxier direction.

We’ll get right to the meat of things. At the front, there’s the C-shaped headlights that now appear on every new Toyota passenger car these days. It’s a similar look to the Camry, Crown, and Prius, and you can bet you’ll see more of it in future models. From what we can see, the front end appears blockier, perhaps taking a page from models like the Prado and Grand Highlander.

From the side, we see gentle, swooping lines that are a stark contrast to the soon to be outgoing model. We can also see relatively large windows and a decorative band on the D-pillar. As for the rear, the tail lights are much larger than before, and there’s a rather interesting tailgate spoiler design.

As for full details and specs, it won’t be that long of a wait anymore. That said, there are a few things we know about the next-gen Toyota RAV4 that have been confirmed. For starters, it will go full hybrid only and non-electrified powertrain options are gone. It’s a similar move the company did for the Camry, which isn’t much of a surprise given that the Camry and RAV4 have a lot in common. Yes folks, the RAV4 has been Camry-based since the third generation.

The launch of the all-new RAV4 is crucial for Toyota. Not only is it the company’s best-selling vehicle worldwide thanks to the North American and European markets, but it has consistently become the world’s best-selling car in the last four years, only beaten once by the Telsa Model Y. No pressure, then.
