Last week, Honda Cars India premiered the new-look Honda City, featuring a new front fascia, an updated tech package, and a revised interior. Shortly after, Honda Cars Thailand also updated its website to give us out first look at the refreshed City Hatchback.
Generally speaking, the hatchback form of the City receives the same visual changes: the lightbar connecting the LED DRLs, a two-piece grill design, triangular pseudo-air ducts, and smoked LED taillights. However, the flattened rear proportions of the hatchback makes the front end more visually prominent. At a glance, it enhances the ‘boy racer’ vibes of the current model.

The Thai website also details the color options available for the facelifted Honda City Hatchback: Urban Gray Pearl, Blazing Red Pearl, Platinum White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic, and Taffeta White. The sedan City is also offered with these options, although the black roof is exclusive to the Urban Gray Pearl hatchback.

The Honda Civic RS e:HEV gets the Prelude’s S+ Shift system in Japan
The City hatchback in Thailand can be hand in four variants: S, e:HEV V, e:HEV SV, and e:HEV RS. It’s notable that the S—which appears to be the entry-level trim—is the single non-electrified variant. Instead of a hybrid powerplant, it gets a turbocharged internal combustion engine. No solid power figures for these yet, but we do know that previous iterations of this 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbopetrol can churn out 120hp and 173Nm of torque.

The Philippine market has missed out on a hybrid City for quite some time now, and Honda Cars Philippines could use more affordable electrified options in its lineup...fingers crossed the facelift comes with hybrid options whenever it arrives here.
Does the Honda City’s new look work better in hatchback form? Or is it too radical of a redesign when put beside other Hondas in the lineup? Let us know in the comments.
