During the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, Nissan shocked the crowd with the Hyper Force concept. In essence, it was the brand showing where the next-generation GT-R is headed. But some folks seem to forget that there was another edgy concept car shown there at the same time.
It was called the Hyper Tourer, and it’s essentially a preview of Nissan’s next-generation luxury van. In other words, it’s the all-new Nissan Elgrand, the company's flagship van. About a year and a half has passed since it was first shown, and the company is finally ready to show the production model.

The teaser released shows that the redesigned Elgrand will get elements from the Hyper Tourer. It’s most evident in the distinct headlight pattern, as well as with the rakish windshield. Over at the back, it’s a toned down version of the radical concept vehicle but still integrates an intricate light design.
We’re genuinely curious what the interior will be like for this business class van. After all, its prime target is none other than the Toyota Alphard. At the very least, we’re expecting space, design, and luxury that matches or surpasses its rival.

But what’s just as interesting here is Nissan sharing a few powertrain details. The company has confirmed that the all-new Elgrand will use third-generation e-Power technology, mating a 1.5-liter engine to a more powerful electric motor and, perhaps, larger batteries.
It’s all exciting stuff, but when will it be launched? Per the company, the new generation Nissan Elgrand will make its debut by ‘fiscal year 2026.’ That means we’re likely to see it around the third quarter of 2025, just in time for this year’s Japan Mobility Show.
The question now is this: Will it be offered in left-hand drive markets? Given how popular these luxury vans have become over the years, we say Nissan should at least consider it.
