The 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) is finally underway. One of the first booths we visited was the Toyota booth, and we saw something that we knew would interest you guys: customized Tamaraws.
The all-new Tamaraw—also known as the Hilux Champ in Thailand—has been showcased with different body kits at the show. One is a souped-up version that looks like ready for the track, and the other is a fully kitted vehicle that wants to give Overland Kings a run for its money.

Here are some stats of the mild hybrid Isuzu D-Max

First off, this sporty-looking truck. It looks like it’s lowered, sits on 20-inch wheels and sports a front bumper kit. We weren’t able to get inside, but we could clearly see that it had Recaro bucket seats.
We’re not sure what those racing seats were for, but the spec sheet suggested that this Hilux Champ is all stock, so it supposedly still has the 2GD-FTV engine under its hood. That’s the 2.4-liter turbodiesel that we also expect to get in the Philippines.

The other star of the booth is the Hilux Champ Camper RV. This dressed-up truck is, in every sense of the word, an RV. The rear cabin houses a couch, seats, a dining table, and a bed with a dedicated window.
There are also appliances and cupboards at the ready, along with a sink with a faucet and a fully functional toilet and bath to fulfill your #vanlife dreams.
We’re not quite sure yet when the all-new Tamaraw will land in the Philippines. When it finally does, though, we’re excited for what the aftermarket has in store for it.
