One of Ford’s official licence partners has been given the green light to reproduce a road-legal version of the RS200 rally car and the Mk1 Escort. If you’re of a certain age, you’ll have already stopped reading this and are now furiously counting the pennies behind the sofa.

It’ll come via Boreham Motorworks—a UK company that specializes in recreating old classics—who’s looking to recreate a series of properly raucous, old-school analog drivers’ cars shaped like Fords.

Unsure as to what exactly constitutes an ‘RS200’ and ‘Mk1 Escort’? The former was an ’80s hero, built in 1984 to race in the World Rally Championship, featuring a mid-engined four-pot turbo, four-wheel-drive system (handy if you’re rallying—just ask the Audi quattro), and a body made from fiberglass officially termed ‘lightweight.’

Bit of a monster, that car, so Boreham’s decision to revive Ford’s aging classic is interesting news. In addition to the RS200, it’ll also build a new-old Mk1 Escort—again another former rally star and doyen of British roads in the ’60s and ’70s—using Ford’s original blueprints and constructed in a “period-sympathetic” manner. Expect strong gasoline fumes and the lingering whiff of cigarette smoke.

As per the rules of Reviving Old Cars, both will be built in “very limited numbers” and no price has yet been revealed. Heck, not even the cars have been revealed—we’ve only been treated to these fetching teaser images thus far.

But, we do know that Boreham will make “five further iconic Ford vehicles” after the RS200 and the Mk1 Escort. Buyers will also get an exclusive membership to ‘The Boreham High Performance Club’, which—says Boreham—is for “immersing like-minded individuals in spectacular driving experiences globally.”

Don’t forget your bobble hats.
