The Bangkok Auto Salon has no shortage of interesting displays. Whether it’s from the aftermarket companies or from the automakers, there’s always something that will draw attention.
We’ve covered Honda’s Mugen-ized models, as well as Isuzu’s hardcore racing pickups. Surely, Toyota has something to show for, right? It is, after all, the top-selling automaker in Thailand.

Well, the Japanese automaker didn’t disappoint. There, they showed off reimagined versions of the Fortuner, Tamaraw, and the Veloz in concept form. Heck, we’d like them to reach production someday.

First up is the Toyota Fortuner Hyper-F Concept. It gets a beefed up look thanks to a set of chunkier fenders and a wider wheel track courtesy of the Hilux GR-Sport. It’s said that the aero kit on the Hyper-F is inspired by Super GT race cars from Japan, and the sharp cuts on the body adhere to that.
Further supporting is racy aesthetic are the 22-inch alloy wheels shod in Dunlop rubber. The side exit exhaust is of interest and we’re genuinely curious if it’s the real deal. But what is real is the additional boost that the engine gets. Toyota won’t say how much power it makes, but we could at least assume it makes as much as its racing-inspired exterior suggests.

Moving on to the Toyota Tamaraw, called Hilux Champ in Thailand, there’s the Cyber Champ version. It’s basically what happens when you give the Tamaraw to an overlander with a near unlimited budget and imagination. All that real estate on the bed has been replaced by a modular box filled to the brim with camping equipment.
On top of the equipment box sits a pop-up tent, and there’s also a flat roof tray in case it’s needed. There’s a bullbar right at the front, plus additional driving lights attached to it. It comes with a set of all-terrain tires, although it isn’t known if it gets four-wheel drive.

Lastly, there’s the Toyota Avanza FLex Concept. For those who are into the retro scene, this subcompact MPV might be of interest. Its two-tone beige on white combination is a sweet and simple throwback. Meanwhile, its mint green steel wheels further enhances the old-school look.
Other enhancements? The yellow LED driving lights are a nice blend of past and present, while the mini nudge bar serves as those lights’ mounting point. In case the Veloz’s cargo area isn’t enough, a roof box can take the extra load. You’ve probably noticed that it’s taller, too. That’s thanks to the all-terrain tires and the Profender lift kit that’s been fitted to the Veloz. Yes, lift kits do exist for these small MPVs.
