The BYD Racco has finally debuted in Japan, ready to take on established kei cars from legacy carmakers. At launch, BYD’s fully electric Racco is offered in three variants, with two battery sizes between them.
The lineup starts with the Racco 200, which utilizes a 22.4kWh battery to achieve a driving range of 210km. Then come the Racco 300 Plus and the Racco 300 Premium, which use larger 35.8kWh packs to drive up to 320km on a full charge.
All variants are equipped with a single front-mounted electric motor setup, which is rated for 63hp and 160Nm of torque. Prices then start at ¥2.145 million (around P806,000), and then reach ¥2.497 million (around P938,000) for the top trim.

BYD Racco 2027 Japan prices:
- BYD Racco 300 Premium – ¥2,497,000 (around P938,000)
- BYD Racco 300 Plus – ¥2,398,000 (around P901,000)
- BYD Racco 200 – ¥2,145,000 (around P806,000)
Those prices put the Racco at a very interesting position for fully electric kei car buyers. For reference, the Honda N-One e: starts at ¥2.699 million (around P1.01 million), and like the upper Racco variants, it also advertises a 300km driving range.
It will be interesting to see how the Japanese market will respond to the introduction of a Chinese kei car, but on paper, it sounds like a highly capable and competitive passenger vehicle. We haven’t mentioned its vehicle-to-load capabilities and advanced driving systems suite, which both come standard across the Racco lineup.
