Remember the Chery QQ? If you don’t then good as it’s best to banish those cars from memory. With that, Chery has revived the name and rebooted it for the better.

Shown at Auto Shanghai 2025, the new Chery QQ has been transformed into a larger (but still compact) electric hatchback. As for the look? It’s nothing like the last car that bore the same name.

The design brief can be best described as rounded-off squares and is most evident at the front. Instead of a grille, there’s a black panel that houses the headlights, while the entire nose has a smooth, clean look to it. The sage goes for its flanks that are devoid of any sharp lines and acute angles. As for the rear, it follows the theme of the front end with a black frame that incorporates the tail lights.

Compact Chinese EVs tend to have a playful interior theme, and the revived QQ is no exception. Of course, there’s a massive screen inside, but there’s a smartphone-sized display in front of the driver for other information. Another interesting characteristic is the ‘squircle’ steering wheel.

But there are other quirky bits inside. It has tri-tone interior, with white, blue, and green in full force. The door panels have three levels and even includes two storage bins. A high-set center console is present, allowing for a a sizable storage area below it.

Unfortunately, there’s no information regarding its powertrain just yet. What we do know is that it’s battery powered, and that’s pretty much it. That said, a likely benchmark is the BYD Dolphin in terms of power and range.

Okay, it’s a concept for now, but knowing how the Chinese automotive industry works, we’re likely to see most of the things seen here into the production model. A worthy addition to the local lineup? We say why not.
