An engine company created by John Judd and three-time Formula 1 champion Sir Jack Brabham will partner with JAS Motorsport to reengineer the V6 in the middle of its ‘Tensei’ supercar. The Tensei, remember, is JAS’s take on the Mk1 Honda NSX.

Judd, of course, has plenty of juicy history when it comes to building proper screamers, having made its name in Formula 1 (V8s and V10s), sports cars (also V10s), and even touring cars.

So, it’s got plenty of experience that it’ll apply to the rebuilt Honda 3.5-liter V6 powering the Tensei. We’re told Judd will be responsible for “suitability checks,” along with lightening the thing and making “enhancements” that focus not just on power and torque, but reliability, too.

Despite being completely rebuilt, these 3.5-liter six-pots will “remain faithful to the values of the original NSX.”

“We work on 3.5-liter engines, both modern and historic, on a daily basis and are looking forward to applying our knowledge to a ’90s icon like the NSX in order to create a level of performance and drivability that makes it the envy of its class rivals in the modern world,” said John Judd Jr.

So it’ll go with some vigor. Should look fairly decent as well—Pininfarina is charged with tweaking the NSX’s design, and these initial renders do look rather dandy indeed. More as we get it.
