An all-new Ford Bronco is heading for the European market, and it will be very different from the mid-size 2.7-liter 4x4 we are familiar with. For starters, this new Bronco will be built as a compact SUV. Production is set to take place in Valencia, Spain starting in 2028.
Ford has called it a “new multi-energy member” of its global Bronco stable, indicating it could launch as either a hybrid or a fully electric vehicle. Over in China, the locally assembled Bronco is offered as a range-extended hybrid, which may serve as a blueprint for this new model.
The compact Bronco will lead four other vehicles that are expected to launch by 2029. These will also be built throughout Europe and will serve as region-exclusive offerings. Another small SUV is expected to join the Bronco, along with a fully electric hatchback and two more crossovers.

While we don’t have any more details on the compact Bronco, Ford did share that the other vehicles would be adopting rally-focused characteristics in their design and performance. Given the Bronco’s heritage as an off-roader, we can expect a similar treatment, albeit in a more urban-friendly package.
Upon the announcement of this new stable, Ford Europe president Jim Baumbick penned a letter to the continent, explaining the Blue Oval’s next chapter.
“I am incredibly proud to announce our new rally-bred range of passenger vehicles. These are machines designed and built specifically for Europe’s perfectly imperfect roads,” said Baumbink.
He continued, “We’re taking the untamed spirit and soul of the Mustang and fusing it with the legendary, ‘go-anywhere’ toughness of the Ranger Raptor. The result is a breed of vehicle that doesn’t just tolerate a gravel detour or a winding mountain ascent—it craves them.”
