This is one of those times where the name precedes the car—or in this case, the truck. Ford has revealed that its upcoming electric pickup will be called the Fathom. The American manufacturer has also revealed a starting price of $28,350 (around P1,733,000) in its home market.
So, aside from the name and the dealer-recommended price, what else do we know about this mystery truck? The Ford Fathom will be a midsize fully electric pickup, so we can probably expect it to be the same size as the Ranger (shown below).
Ford also confirmed that the Fathom will be available with next-generation BlueCruise capability, which provides hands-free highway driving. The carmaker also said that the Fathom will be the first vehicle produced under its new Universal Electric Vehicle Platform. This means Ford is developing a new EV architecture that can be used for different vehicles in its lineup. That said, the Fathom might not be a traditional ladder-frame pickup like the Ranger, but possibly a unibody-style truck similar to the Ford Maverick.

With the Fathom confirmed as a midsize truck, this positions it between the full-size F-150 Lightning and the compact Maverick in Ford’s electric-truck lineup in the US. While the company has kept most specs under wraps, it has revealed that the Fathom will have digital key functionality and a large touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and navigation as standard.
