The current Ford Ranger lineup certainly lives up to the 'Built Tough' marketing hype. It has a good mix of tried-and-tested engine power hidden beneath a tank-like exterior that looks ready to bulldoze any terrain you dare to test it against. Now, Ford Philippines introduces what might be the toughest-looking Ranger variant we've seen.

Meet the Ford Ranger FX4. The new variant has a host of aesthetic add-ons that give it a unique and tough look. There's a new mesh grille up front, along with blacked-out foglight bezels. Underneath are 18-inch painted alloy wheels, and on the back is a black sports bar. On the front and rear are new graphic elements, with the latter housing a blacked-out decal of the model's name in negative space.

Inside, the darker look is also present on the interior's finish. The leather seats come with the FX4 logo embodied on them as well. Under the hood, there is a 2.2-liter diesel engine that spits out 160hp and 385Nm. Leading the pickup is a 4x2 drivetrain.

"The Ranger FX4 gives you the winning combination of the Ranger’s proven performance in a bolder, tougher, and sportier package, enabling you to take on more adventures," said Ford Philippines managing director Lance Mosley said in a statement. "It truly is a truck with no compromise that embodies our 'Built Ford Tough' heritage."

The FX4 will come in two variants: a six-speed manual transmission (P1,299,000) and a six-speed automatic (P1,359,000). The available colors are Cool White, Aluminum Metallic, Meteor Grey, and Jet Black.

This could be the truck you've been waiting for.
