For those in the market for a brand new Ford Ranger, they are absolutely spoiled for choice when it comes to variants. Presently, there are a whopping eight versions to choose from, kicking off with a bare 4x4 manual, to a twin-turbo V6 rally truck with license plates.
Ford reckons it’s still not enough and they want to round it off to ten variants. It’s called the Sport Special Edition, and complements the Everest Sport Special Edition that was launched alongside this model.

This is a limited-run model, so it won’t stay in the local lineup for long. That said, why get the Sport SE over the standard version? For those who’d like a little more zing from their Ranger without going for the Wildtrak, it’s the one to get.

There’s the usual gloss black trims on the outside. It’s applied on the grille, door mirror caps, and door handles. It then gains a metal sports bar on the bed that’s actually functional. A minor interior upgrade then comes in the form of pop-out cupholders by the outermost air-conditioning vents.

Powering this version of the Ranger is the 2.0-liter EcoBlue engine with a single turbo. It puts out 168hp and 405Nm, just like the rest of the single turbo EcoBlue diesels. That said, it’s available with four-wheel drive and even comes with a proper rear differential lock. For those not planning to venture off-road, there’s also a two-wheel drive model.
The Ford Ranger Sport Special Edition starts at P1,529,000 for the 4x2, while the 4x4 retails for P1,649,000.
