The BYD Sealion 6 might have a strong competitor on the way and it comes from a legacy automaker. According to the Land Transportation Office’s database, the Ford Territory hybrid is coming here pretty soon.

Curiously, it’s simply listed as a hybrid, but the power figures listed are identical to the Equator Sport PHEV sold in China. And, as far as we can tell, there is no standard hybrid or mild-hybrid versions of the Equator Sport or Territory.
Power was listed at 218hp, although torque wasn’t mentioned. However, if this is the plug-in hybrid model, it pairs a 1.5-liter turbo to a single electric motor that’s then hooked up to a 2-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). No dual-clutches here, folks, and we hope it offers a far smoother driving experience.
Based on Ford of China’s spec sheet, fuel economy is as high as 23.25km/L and a full charge allows for a battery power range of around 100km. A bolder claim is the range which is rated up to 1,324km. That’s thanks in part to a relatively large 18.4kWh battery pack, which is about the same as the Sealion 6 which has a capacity of 18.3kWh. With a fast charger, the batteries can recharge from 30% to 80% in as little as 14 minutes.
For now, it’s just the electrified model of the Ford Territory that’s appeared on the LTO’s database. With the facelifted model expected to arrive soon, it’s unknown if the non-hybrid version will still be offered or if Ford Philippines will go all-in with just the plug-in hybrid variant.
