What a year it’s been for GAC International Philippines. Heck, what a quarter, even.
Earlier this year, we saw the arrival of the GS8 HEV, the new Emzoom, and the Aion UT. Fast forward to less than a month ago, the Chinese carmaker launched a trio of MPVs in the E8, GN6, and GN8. Now, it’s back with yet another new introduction: the GS4 Max HEV.

The GS4 Max HEV is GAC’s newest hybrid crossover, sitting above the GS3 Emzoom and sized similarly to the Emkoo. It has a much tamer design compared to its stablemates, with a more ‘regular-looking’ front end. GAC calls it a ‘Qilin-inspired’ front fascia with a ‘Qingyun Ladder’ matrix grille and ‘Morning Star’ LED headlights. The rear, meanwhile, gets ‘Changong’ taillights stretching the width of the tailgate. Interestingly, the C-pillar looks that of the Emkoo.

Straight to the highlight here, though—the engine. Propelling the GAC GS4 Max HEV is a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine paired with a 2.1kWh nickel cobalt manganese battery. The electrified setup produces a total of 232hp, with the dual motors peaking at 300Nm. GAC claims the GS4 Max HEV can do 1,250km on a single tank of gas.
This crossover also comes packing plenty of ADAS, including adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, forward-collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist, and a 360-degree-view camera.
Other amenities include a 10.1-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a seven-inch digital instrument cluster. There’s a 50W wireless charger with a built-in cooling fan.

The all-new GAC GS4 Max HEV stickers for P1.298 million. It is available with an P80,000 introductory discount, bringing the SRP down to P1.218 million, up for grabs only until September 30, 2026. Like all other hybrid models in GAC’s lineup, the GS4 Max HEV comes with a five-year/150,000km basic warranty and an eight-year/150,000km policy covering the power battery, driving motor, and motor control unit.
“With the introduction of the GS4 Max HEV, we are thrilled to offer modern Filipino families a high-value hybrid SUV that balances practical comfort, reliability, and exceptional efficiency,” said GAC Philippines general manager Calvin Cheng. “As we expand our SUV portfolio alongside the Emkoo, GS3 Emzoom, and GS8, the GS4 Max HEV reinforces our commitment to providing uncompromised mobility solutions designed to elevate everyday life for growing households across the country.”
