Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) has finally previewed the facelifted HR-V, confirming the now-electrified subcompact crossover’s imminent arrival.

Naturally, you guys might be wondering: What exactly is new with this facelift? Today was just still a preview, but that’s a question we can already answer. Actually, we have more than just an answer—we have a few.

We’ll run down the most notable changes in the new Honda HR-V e:HEV, some of which are standard across the lineup. Read on, and tell us what you think.

1) The hybrid powertrain

Duh, right? For obvious reasons, this comes first. But it’s not just new for the HR-V—it’s new for Honda’s local lineup.

The HR-V e:HEV’s hybrid system is different from what the hybrid Civic and CR-V have. This one’s comprised of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor that together put out 129hp and 253Nm of torque. Not too far off in terms of horsepower from the non-hybrid variants, but it has way more torque than before.

Fuel consumption is also at an impressive 23.2km/L. We’ll try and see for ourselves as soon as we get the chance.

2) The design

The facelifted Honda HR-V now has a sleeker-looking front clip with fewer lines on the front fascia. There’s now also a mesh trim under the wide front grille. Underneath, the HR-V e:HEV also gets new-look 18-inch, two-tone alloy wheels.

3) The color

The new Honda HR-V e:HEV RS is now available with a Sand Khaki Pearl finish. New for the range, but not for the lineup—we’ve seen this before in the BR-V.

Speaking of colors, the Honda badge on the e:HEV variant is now also highlighted with blue, just like the other hybrid Hondas.

4) Wireless everything

The hybrid HR-V (and the rest of the lineup for that matter) now gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. There’s also wireless charging available. No more cables necessary if you’re driving this.

5) A new power tailgate

For the first time in HR-V history, it now gets a power tailgate, complete with a kick sensor and a walk-away function. Note that this is only exclusive to the top-spec hybrid RS trim, though.

6) Reverse-tilting side mirrors

When you shift to reverse, the HR-V e:HEV’s side mirrors will automatically tilt downwards, giving drivers a clearer view of what’s behind them. This will make backing into any parking area a cinch.

7) Rear parking sensors

Finally. Honda has a knack for putting reversing cameras in its cars but omitting the more basic parking sensors that usually go along with them. Well, that’s now changed for the HR-V, and we’re sure a lot of people will like that addition. This is now also standard across the range.

As we mentioned previously, we still have no final prices for the new Honda HR-V e:HEV or the other variants—we’ll have to wait until March for that. We do know it’ll be priced between P1.6 and P1.9 million, so there’s that.
