After all the teasers and previews, it’s finally here: The sixth-generation Honda Prelude officially joins the brand’s Philippine lineup, creating a niche of its own as a premium, sporty grand tourer with hybrid propulsion.
Let’s get the price tag out of the way first: It has a suggested retail price of P3,498,000, revealed by a dealer days after order books opened. If you want a unit in the Prelude-exclusive Moonlit White Pearl, however, that’s an extra P30,000. Other exterior colors are Rallye Red, Racing Blue Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, and Crystal Black Pearl.

As mentioned, the Prelude is powered by a Honda’s 2.0-liter e:HEV system, which pairs an Atkinson-cycle engine with two electric motors for a combined output of 181hp and 315Nm of torque—the same figures as the hybrid Civic. What’s new here, however, is the S+ Shift system, which unlocks the sporty potential of Honda’s future hybrids, especially now that the brand is taking a step back from full EVs. S+ Shift mimics an eight-speed transmission by using the electric motors to simulate upshifts and downshifts, with an active sound control feature enhancing the actual engine sound for a more engaging experience.

Other things of note are coasting control, which allows the coupe to coast to a stop via the paddle shifters, and four selectable drive modes—Individual, Sport, GT, and Comfort—to give the driver the option to choose how sporty or laid-back the driving dynamics should be. As for efficiency, the Prelude is capable of 25.6km/LGe, as certified by the Department of Energy.

Extra features include an eight-speaker Bose sound system, Honda Sensing (with 12 advanced driver-assist systems, including lead-car departure notification, lane- and road-departure warnings, cross-traffic monitoring, and collision-mitigation braking), Honda Connect mobile app compatibility, and built-in Google Automotive Services (with pre-installed apps like Google Maps and Google Assistant).
Honda Cars Philippines is also offering the Prelude with an extended warranty program. Aside from a five-year/150,000km vehicle warranty, there’s also an eight-year/160,000km warranty coverage for the hybrid system’s battery.

We’ve already driven the Prelude (though very briefly) on the track and local roads—you can check out our Laund Pad feature here, and watch the preview video below. If you have yet to see it in the metal, it will also be on display at the following dealerships:
