We first saw it at the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show, and our editor-in-chief had to take a moment to process it. This is the Isuzu D-Max race truck built specifically for the Isuzu Challenge Thailand one-make race, and there’s a lot to get into in terms of upgrades.

It’s hard to ignore the wild GT-like bodykit designed by Tera Engineering. The spoilers, both front and rear, are absolutely massive and contribute to the truck’s aggressive appearance. The truck bed now resembles a slide, as our EIC puts it, presumably for funneling air. The fenders also receive a widebody treatment, and extended skirts round out the aero package.

Other details include a carbon-fiber hood, a sleek set of Lenso forged wheels,  and Toyo performance tires.

As expected of a true race car, the interior has been completely stripped out. This allows the installation of an FIA-compliant roll cage and a single Sparco racing bucket. The steering wheel is a unique Zestek model with integrated controls, while the center screen now shows telemetry instead of navigation and music controls.

The heart of this D-Max’s has been upgraded 2.2-liter turbo engine that makes an impressive 285hp and 507Nm of torque. For context, the most powerful D-Max you can buy locally is equipped with the 4JJ3-TCX that makes 187hp and 450 Nm.

Power is sent to the rear wheels only, and a BK clutch ensures the whole setup can take the punishment of multiple laps of hard racing. Other upgrades include Penske suspension and brakes from Ferodo.

What may surprise you is that this isn’t a one-off concept—it’s actually going on sale on a very limited run. How limited? Fifteen units, to be exact. Each race truck stickers for 1,490,000 Thai baht or around P2.757 million. Oh, and it’s not street-legal, either—they’re really meant to be sold directly to teams competing in the Isuzu Challenge Thailand one-make race series.

The series is set to run across three events this year in June, August, and October. While this race truck looks amazing overall, the price of diesel today might turn fans away and direct their attention toward the D-Max’s electric incarnation...
