The Kia PV5 has officially debuted in Southeast Asia with a launch in Thailand. Arriving as a lone variant, the PV5 Cargo Standard Range features the brand’s fully electric powertrain and shipment-hauling capability. This variant could arrive in the Philippines, as Kia has confirmed that the PV5 will reach our shores soon. So, what can we expect from this electric commercial vehicle?
Size-wise, the PV5 Cargo measures 4,695mm long, 1,895mm wide, and 1,899mm tall, with a 2,995mm wheelbase. Inside, the luggage area measures 2,255mm in length, 1,565mm in width, and 1,520mm in height, with a step-in height of 419mm from the rear door. Maximum payload capacity is listed at 790kg.
The front row is equipped with synthetic leather seats, a synthetic leather-wrapped steering wheel, power windows, and various compartments for storing small items. The multimedia suite isn’t bad, either, with a 7.5-inch TFT instrument panel, a 12.9-inch touchscreen with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and USB-C charging ports.

As for the powertrain, the PV5 Cargo uses a permanent-magnet synchronous motor paired with a 51.5kWh lithium-ion battery, and delivers up to 122hp and 250Nm of torque. Range is listed at 384km, while charging time takes 30 minutes from 10% to 80% with a 350kW DC fast charger and just under five hours from 10% to 100% with a standard AC charger.
Other features include 16-inch steelies with hub caps, an emergency tire-repair kit (no spare tire here), LED head- and taillights, four-position rear parking sensors, and disc brakes on all wheels.
The PV5 Cargo Standard Range in Thailand costs THB1,199,000 or around P2,058,987. Overall, the package has potential for those looking at electric transportation solutions in urban environments.
