The Gronos is Mansory’s blinding 831hp take on the Mercedes-AMG G63

The interior is just as bright as that paint job

It was a question of when, and not if, Mansory would take the latest W465-generation Mercedes-Benz G63 and do some things to it. And sure enough, that time is now.

Two versions are available from the off: the Grand Entrée and the Gronos. Only eight units are planned for each program, so this might be your only chance to ever see one. Sunglasses on, then.

We’ll get to the contrasting designs in a tick because the generic change for the two is…a big one. The 4.0-liter V8 has had a larger pair of turbos strapped on and linked to a new exhaust system. The result is 831hp and 1,148Nm - that’s 237hp and 221Nm and 299Nm more—and means 0-100kph is dispatched in 4sec flat. Spritely, for a cathedral.

On to the details and beginning with the Grand Entrée, there’s an entirely new bodykit that includes new front/rear bumpers and splitters, side skirts, and wheel arches, all conjoined as one big piece.

Mansory has then given it a set of spotlights up top, 24-inch 10-spoke alloys from its totally normal Pugnator, and a purposeful wing at the rear. This lot’s all been stitched together by a two-tone paint scheme that mostly consists of that strange part-carbon, part-blackboard vinyl seen on its GT2 car-like MC20.

The bright yellow Gronos’ bodykit is similar to its opposite number, though the front foglamps are horizontal as opposed to vertical, the roof light bar has two large rectangle bulbs instead, and the rear wing consists of two independent attachments at either corner. No seriously, they will help with downforce.

Back on to the shared traits, there’s new soft-closing technology applied to the rear boot door hinges, which makes it easier to get in, after which you’ll be greeted by an interior that’s bespoke to you, since these Mansory conversions almost always come with a blank canvas for you to option up.

Said options here include embroidered logos, a leather sports steering wheel, and quilted floor mats, with a model number woven in along the center console to make you feel a bit more special.

There’s no fixed entry point for either the Gronos or Grand Entrée, but you will need at least £137,000 (around P10.2 million before taxes) for a standard G63 to begin with. And maybe a set of sunnies if you’re going for the Gronos.
