Here’s some news we certainly weren’t expecting: Mercedes-Benz has announced that a new G-Class cabriolet is coming soon. Yep, it’s taking a giant pair of scissors to the roof of the current Mercedes-Benz G-Class, because it really did need some help to stand out, didn’t it?
“We’re expanding the family further,” says a very brief Merc statement that was issued alongside the shadowy image you see above.
“We’ll be offering the open-top G-Class in almost every market around the world, including the US.”

Of course, we initially expected this to be news of the long-awaited baby electric G-Class that company boss Ola Källenius confirmed all the way back in 2023, but it looks like we’ll be kept waiting for that.
For now, the German carmaker clearly wants to throw it back to the open-topped G-Wagens of old, although we’d put good money on this new one being more Landaulet than old-school military spec.
Thoughts, folks?
