For brands to have a shot at success in the Philippine market, they must have at least one of these vehicles: An SUV or an MPV. MG Philippines has no problem with the prior, but it hasn’t had any offering for the latter.

But years after the brand arrived in the country, it finally has itself an MPV. Previewed at MIAS 2024, the MG G50 Plus has finally made its official local debut alongside the new MG 3.

If it looks familiar, that’s because it’s the MPV formerly known as the Maxus G50. With Maxus practically idled in the country, it’s MG’s turn to bring it back. Finally, then, a three-row vehicle from the brand.

Externally, it looks much like the Maxus-badged version. It does get unique MG-fied exterior trims. The grille is a slim piece but the venter air intake is much wider than before. There’s a little more brightwork to add some zing on the exterior.

Inside, there’s a floating screen sitting right on the center of the dashboard. The instrument cluster is a mix of analog and digital with the center serving as the multi-info display. Wireless charging is standard, so is automatic climate control and leather seats.

Three trim levels are available for the G50 Plus. These are the Standard, Comfort, and the top-spec Lux. The Standard and the Comfort come with eight seats, while the Lux loses one as the second-row gets a pair of captain chairs. Only the Lux comes with 17-inch alloys and LED headlights. Cruise control is standard for the Comfort and the Lux.
