MG Philippines has unveiled a pair of PHEVs at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show: the RX9 and the HS PHEV. The latter is familar to us; we’ve already seen it previewed at PIMS 2024 (not to mention the currently available hybrid variant).

The RX9, however, is new metal. This is MG’s first three-row SUV, launched earlier this year in the UK as the S9. In the Filipino market, it’s squarely aimed at the likes of the BYD Tang by way of size class and feature set.

MG calls the RX9 its flagship seven-seater PHEV SUV. Under the hood, it carries a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine assisted with an electric motor, hooked up to a 24.7kWh LFP battery. The whole system combined makes 294hp

Range with the hybrid system engaged is 1,100km, but fully electric cruising can still net 115km of driving. Other amenities include ventilated front seats with massagers, a 12-speaker sound system care of Bose, and the MG Pilot ADAS suite.

For the HS PHEV, the plug-in variant’s hybrid system makes 268hp. Similar to the RX9, driving purely on battery power gets 100km, while the full system has over 1,000km of range.

Despite the new technology, the HS PHEV’s dimensions are identical to the Hybrid+ variant. While the original HEV already provided a fair challenge against the BYD Sealion 6, the arrival of the HS PHEV puts it on even footing with the popular crossover.

MG set the SRPs of the RX9 and HS PHEV at P1,998,888 and P1,548,888 respectively—highly competitive prices for each segment, and incentives for reservations made this June can further drive those prices down. MG is offering a P30,000 cash token for reservations this month, an additional P10,000 retention incentive while awaiting delivery, and a 7kW wall charger valued at P30,000.

Will either of these PHEVs make the same splash that the G50 (also a PHEV, by the way) did over the past few months? Let us know if MG’s latest plug-in offerings catch your eye.
