As far as the lineup goes, MG Philippines has a variety of models that caters to a wide audience. There’s the MG 5 and MG GT sedans, the competent MG 3 hatchback, the popular ZS, and the practical G50 MPV.
Let’s also not forget that the brand has several electric vehicles in its portfolio that includes the Cyberster roadster. Oh, and it previewed a potential Fortuner and Everest-fighter last year in the form of the D90. The only thing missing here is a pickup.

But that will soon be rectified by the British-Chinese automaker. Come October 23, 2025, MG Philippines will soon roll out its first-ever pickup. Yes, you read that right.

If you recall a few months ago, we stumbled upon LTO homologation papers that mentioned the said MG pickup. Per the documents, it was called the TRQ, although it’s hard to tell if that name will carry over into the actual model. That said, MG isn’t new to the pickup game, as it has been selling a model called Extender over in Thailand for quite some time already.

Based on the teaser photo, the TRQ will not have the same front end as the Extender sold in Thailand. Instead, what we’ll get is the pre-facelift look with its more conventional appearance. If it looks familiar, that’s because the TRQ/Extender is a different version of the Maxus T70. Its predecessor, the T60, was sold in the Philippines briefly until Maxus folded in the Philippines.
Per the LTO documents, the TRQ will use a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine. There were no specifics mentioned in the file, but the spec sheet in Thailand suggests that it puts out 161hp and 375Nm. Only two-wheel drive models were listed, available in either manual or automatic guises. It is unknown if a four-wheel drive model will be offered.
We’ll know more once the pickup is launched in a few weeks, along with more updates in the MG Philippines lineup.
