Fancy a new Mini Cooper hatch, but worried there aren’t enough entry and exit points? Mini has now added more doors and a smidgen of additional space to its new hatch. Behold: the Mini Cooper 5-Door.

It retains the pair of three-cylinder gasoline powertrains available in the lesser-doored car, coined C and S. With the former, customers have 158hp and 230Nm of torque to play with, resulting in a flat 8sec sprint to 100kph en route to a top speed of 225kph.

The livelier S bumps these figures up to 207hp and 299Nm of torque, which cuts the run to 100kph by 1.2sec and ups the Vmax by 10kph. Not quite Autobahn-conquering speeds, but plentiful for overtaking on a regular highway.

Other mechanical goodies include dynamic suspension and dampers to provide excitement in the corners, while a preloaded anti-roll bar and bigger brakes should do a good job of keeping the car in check.

On to design, and it looks...like a Mini hatch with five doors. The classic cues remain, so the overhangs are short, the hood is small, and the wheel arches are slightly chunky. The modern octagonal grille and the spherical LED lamp duo have also been carried across from the three-door, as has the black handle strip.

It’s also a familiar story inside, where the three primary trim levels (Classic, Exclusive, and Sport) are characterized by 17- or 18-inch alloys, sportier paddle shifts as you make your way up the classes, and various cabin upholstery and panel designs to set your car apart.

There’s a recycled polymer dashboard, a panoramic roof, and a 24-inch OLED circular display—something that’s become a hallmark in modern Minis. It’s all terribly stylish, wouldn’t you agree?

Prices for the Cooper C start at £24,050 (around P1.79 million before shipping and taxes), and it’ll be available from August 2024. Or, if you’ve got an extra £4,400 (roughly P327,000) to spare, Mini will send a Cooper S to your front door instead.
