The HEV variant of the Mitsubishi XForce made an appearance at the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, following its Indonesian market launch earlier in July. Mitsubishi highlights its introduction as an important milestone: the XForce HEV is both its first hybrid offering in Indonesia, as well as the first electrified model assembled locally in the country.
The Japanese automaker first unveiled the XForce HEV over a year ago ahead of the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show. Although Mitsubishi brought out the XForce during this year’s Philippine International Motor Show, it was to launch a refreshed lineup that included a new base variant.
As a refresher, the XForce HEV is powered by a 1.6-liter Atkinson cycle engine paired with a single electric motor and a 1.1kWh battery. Total system output is 114hp and 225Nm of torque, which are sent to the front wheels. The HEV model’s exterior also receives unique styling elements: smoked lights, contrast garnish, HEV badging, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

It’s worth noting that XForce units sold in the Philippine market are imported from Indonesia. It’s certainly tempting to speculate that the HEV’s arrival in our neighbor’s market means that we’re up next, but nothing officially confirms this as of writing.
That said, just earlier this week President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed an Executive Order to incentivize EV manufacturing in the Philippines, and Mitsubishi was quick to remind the industry that it’s committed to making it happen. Of course, it won’t happen overnight—the automaker has said the earliest point in the timeline it can get to building electrified models is 2028.
This could go either way, though: Mitsubishi might not import these new XForce HEVs from Indonesia at all as it gears up for local manufacturing, or it could bring them in anyway regardless of which model will eventually be built on our shores.
