Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced back in July that the next-generation Outlander is set to debut in early 2021. Now, the Japanese carmaker has confirmed that the big reveal will happen in February next year, and with the announcement came the first teaser of the all-new SUV.
It’s as vague as teasers get, unfortunately, because we only get to see the vehicle’s silhouette. But if you look a bit closer, you’ll notice that the Outlander’s Dynamic Shield has been reworked.
Mitsubishi says that this new Outlander was developed under the ideal of the Japanese term ‘I-Fu-Do-Do’ which translates to ‘authentic and majestic.’ It also says that the new vehicle’s styling is a glimpse of Mitsubishi’s design direction for its future models.
“The Outlander is an iconic SUV for the company, so when we developed the next generation model, we took inspirations from our rich SUV heritage to realize a bold and confident styling with a solid stance that excites our customers,” said MMC design head Seiji Watanabe. “The all-new Outlander is the first model epitomizing the new generation of Mitsubishi design and the frontrunner of our design strategy.”
