Nissan has already confirmed the cars and concepts that it will be displaying at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon. That’s not the end of the Japanese carmaker’s showcase, though.

The company has announced that custom vehicles created by students from the Nissan Automobile Technical College will also be showcased during the show. There will be a Skyline (pictured above), an Elgrand, and a Cube in the lineup.

First up is the Adonis Skyline, a build based on the non-GT-R version of the R34 Skyline. It was built by third-year students from the Aichi campus and took two and a half months to complete. The body here has been widened by 5cm while maintaining the flowing lines of the base car.

The time spent building this car was dedicated mostly to “aligning and correcting body lines to avoid distortion.” The Skyline was then finished in Adonis white, an original color created by the students, hence, the name.

The second custom car is the Seto, a ‘Pike Car’ based on the concept of “a bridge between past and present.” It is based on the Cube, and it features the front fascia and taillights of the Bluebird sedan. It has a light navy blue finish.

The Seto was built by fourth-year students from the Kyoto campus and took six months to build. Nissan shares the students used a combination of welding and putty modeling to create the smooth, harmonized finish of the car.

Third and final car—and arguably the highlight of the three—is the Elgrand Glassier. This was also built by fourth-year students from the Kyoto campus and also took six months to complete.

As its name suggests, this one is based on the Elgrand, only it looks far different thanks to that X-Trail face. It gets a rugged, off-road-ish vibe, with a higher ground clearance (up 4cm) and a roof tent to boot. The base concept was “bringing people together” with the aim to enable families to enjoy camping and the great outdoors together.

The vehicle’s unique colorway was also created by the students. It evokes “the light of early dawn” with ethereal green as its base.

The Nissan Automobile Technical College is part of the Nissan Group and has five campuses around Japan. It offers courses on automobile maintenance as well as automotive engineering courses in motorsports and bodywork. You can check out some behind-the-scenes photos of these custom builds below.
