Over in China, Nissan recently unveiled the NX7, its latest plug-in hybrid crossover produced from its joint venture with Dongfeng. This model follows the other vehicles built as a result of the partnership, including the Primera EV, the NX8 SUVs, and the Navara Pro PHEV.
Measuring 4,785mm long, 1,932mm wide, and 1,665mm tall, it’s actually larger than the new-to-the-Philippines Nissan X-Trail e-Power. Instead, its size matches up with the highly successful BYD Sealion 6. With the same powertain type to boot, it’s clear that Nissan is billing the NX7 to compete in the plug-in compact crossover segment.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also outlines some tech specs for the crossover. Under the hood, the Nissan NX7 is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder paired with a single electric motor good for 228hp. Along with the 40.95kWh battery, it can deliver an impressive 225km of purely electric CLTC range. A combined combustion and electric range wasn’t listed, but it likely covers over 1,000km, as with other PHEV crossovers.

Dongfeng-Nissan hasn’t shown off the interior just yet, but we anticipate it to be in line with the earlier models in the joint venture. In other words, it’s safe to assume that the interior will be just as plush as the Primera and NX8 with plenty of leather upholstery. Details are also light on its tech package, but it’s hard to miss the LiDAR sensor bump on the roof, which likely works in tandem with a 360-degree camera system.
