Well, we didn’t have to wait long for this: Nissan Philippines has confirmed that the all-new Nissan Patrol will make its Philippine debut on March 28, less than seven months after its global premiere in September.

That said, the wait for this Y63 generation took 14 years, so if you want to be among the first to get a unit, you can actually reserve one now.

You may have heard already that the big old V8 is gone; engine options for the all-new model are a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that puts out 425hp and 700Nm of torque via a nine-speed transmission, and a 3.8-liter V6 that makes 318hp and 386Nm. One of the major talking points when the Y63 was first revealed was that it comes standard with air suspension.

There’s no word on pricing yet, but the Patrol will have to match or better the asking price of its perennial rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. Currently, only the ZX variant is listed on Toyota’s website, priced at P5,758,000; the lower-spec VX cost around P400,000 less when it was still offered. We’ve done a size comparo of the Patrol and the LC300 before—check it out here.

These Japanese full-size SUV models have done remarkably well in the local market. As we wrote in a previous story, we get the second largest allotment of Land Cruisers in the world at 150 to 200 units per month, and that’s not including gray-market units that make their way into the country. When it arrives, the Patrol will want to capture a chunk of that share—ours may be a small market, but every unit sold counts, especially given Nissan’s current troubles.

More as we have it—in the meantime, you can check out our first drive of the all-new Patrol.
