Well, here’s something we didn’t expect. PGA Cars, the official distributor of Porsche cars (along with Audi, Bentley, and Lamborghini) in the Philippines is set to launch the 911 Dakar in the country.

The upcoming launch of the Porsche 911 Dakar comes right after the local premiere of yet another high-riding sports car, the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato. That means PGA Cars now has two rough road-ready supercars in its stable. Perfect for our not-so-smooth roads, then.

Its launch announcement is a huge deal of us in the Philippines. See, the 911 Dakar is a (very) limited-run model with just 2,500 units slated worldwide. The fact that we managed to get an allocation is an achievement on the part of the distributor.

Based on the Carrera 4 GTS, the Dakar adds a lot more room between the road and its undercarriage. The adjustable suspension adds up to 80mm worth of ground clearance, and it comes equipped with all-terrain tires. Given that Porsche is expecting Dakar customers to really use the car’s capabilities, the entire suspension arrangement has been beefed up. Its 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six engine is good for 473hp and 569 Nm of torque.

Other things you need to know about the Porsche 911 Dakar? We’ll find out more about the local spec once it’s revealed on May 5, 2024. However, we’re expecting a wide variety of paint and color scheme versions, one of which includes a homage to the 911 that competed, and won, the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally.
