There's no denying that the all-new Toyota RAV4—first revealed back in March during the 2018 New York International Auto Show—is one of the nicest-looking next-gen crossovers around. It's sleek and burly, and its design is simply edgier than the current one.
If, like us, you can't wait for Toyota Motor Philippines to bring this baby in, we have something you might like. No, it isn't a release date—chances are it'll be a little while before we get that info. What we can give you now is a closer look at the crossover, courtesy of its hybrid version on display at the ongoing Paris Motor Show.
The crossover's macho aesthetics and strong lines give off a vibe that's as clean as its powertrain: a hybrid setup with an output of 219hp, capable of 0-100kph in 8.1 seconds. Toyota estimates this RAV4's 2.5-liter engine and self-charging hybrid system will have a combined fuel economy of around 22km/L. Impressive.
Just like its non-hybrid sibling, this RAV4 runs on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). The Japanese carmaker claims this provides a lower center of gravity, more rigidity, and better ride handling and comfort. What's more, its benefits extend to the interior, too. There's ample space despite the short frame, and the driving position is supposedly better than the previous model's.
And we can't get over the design. We thought the next-gen RAV4 couldn't look any better, but we thought wrong. This crossover looks stunning in white, a color that really allows its two-tone paint job to pop out. Toyota says the RAV4's polygon-inspired look and its clean, efficient powertrain will allow the crossover to attract customers in an already crowded segment.
Again, there's no word on when (or if) the next-generation RAV4 will grace the Philippine automotive market. For now, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed and enjoy the photos below.
