We first encountered the refreshed Toyota Avanza in Indonesia, and now it’s here. Toyota Motor Philippines introduced its face-lifted compact MPV to the press last night. First launched in 2006, the Avanza has sold in excess of 50,000 units nationwide since then.
The new model has a noticeably prominent face dominated by a large grille. Other aesthetic improvements include 15-inch alloy wheels, and redesigned headlamps, grille and bumper.
What’s notable is that the Avanza gets new engines for both 1.5- and 1.3-liter variants. Output hasn’t increased much, however. The 1.5-liter mill gets bumped up by 1hp to 103hp, and torque remains the same at 136Nm. The 1.3-liter motor’s output increases by 5hp to 95hp, and by 4Nm of torque for a total of 121Nm.
More power doesn’t hurt, right? However, there’s also a slight price increase for the refreshed Avanza. Here’s the complete list:
* 1.5G AT - P910,000
* 1.5G MT - P869,000
* 1.3E AT - P797,000
* 1.3E MT - P756,000
* 1.3J MT - P667,000
Toyota also says NVH has been improved, as well as the cabin. The interior has darker and more sophisticated trim. Passengers will also appreciate the touchscreen audio and the 50:50 split-tumble functionality of the third-row seat. And to cap off everything, ABS and Isofix anchors are now standard.
The Toyota Avanza is now more stylish, has better creature comforts, and is safer. Sounds like a good proposition to us.
