It looks like Toyota is planning to bring yet another battery electric vehicle to the Philippines. Based on homologation papers from the Land Transportation Office, the Toyota bZ3X might soon join the bZ4X and the Urban Cruiser in the brand’s local fully electric portfolio.

The bZ3X is Toyota’s fully electric crossover SUV co-developed with GAC. It shares a platform with the latter brand’s Aion V. According to the LTO’s documents, the bZ3X measures 4,600mm long, 1,850mm wide, and 1,645mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,765mm. These dimensions are comparable to those of the RAV4.

In China, the bZ3X comes in three battery sizes: 50.03kWh, 58.37kWh, and 67.92kWh. Depending on the battery, the crossover has a driving range of 430km, 520km, or 610km, respectively. Performance figures also vary from 201-221hp and 200-210Nm. All variants deliver power to the front wheels through a single electric motor.

The main highlights of the bZ3X are the interior comfort and tech features. The cabin has a 14.6-inch touchscreen display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, paired with a Yamaha sound system with either nine or 11 speakers, depending on the variant. The front seats can recline flat with the headrests detached, turning the cabin into a bed space. The interior comes in multiple colors as well, including an ‘Hermes Orange’ colorway.

The rear seats also recline and feature a pull-out center armrest with storage and a USB-C charging port. There’s also a tray table for added convenience when working from the backseat. For the driver and front passenger, apart from USB-C ports, there’s a wireless 50W charging pad. Other features include V2L charging and a panoramic sunroof.

The bZ3X has a wide range of safety features through its LiDAR sensors. But a unique feature in this crossover that we don’t see very often is a kill switch located behind the steering wheel. This switch allows the driver to cut the power completely during an emergency.

As of writing, there are no public announcements yet from Toyota Motor Philippines about the launch of the bZ3X. But from what we’ve seen, if TMP can keep prices competitive, this compact crossover can potentially be a strong competitor in our local BEV market.
