We finally have confirmation: Toyota Motor Philippines is indeed launching a premium-spec version of its van, the Hiace, this August. It will carry the Hiace Super Grandia moniker, and will now be the top-of-the-line variant of the Japanese car manufacturer’s passenger van offering.

The company has already sent out invitations for the official local launch, which will be held on August 19, and it discloses the name of the vehicle being introduced.

Prior to this, sources within the Toyota dealer network had already told us another Hiace launch was imminent. According to them, the van will come with four captain’s chairs with power adjustment, and a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine similar to what’s under the hood of ‘standard’ units.

In Australia, a variant similar to that described above was launched earlier this year called the Luxury Granvia. The name hasn’t carried over to the Philippine market, but if the details our sources shared prove to be true, everything else might. Photos of the unit on Philippine soil circulating online already suggest it will sport a look largely similar, if not identical, to that of units found in the Land Down Under.

No prices have been made known, but our source tells us the Toyota Hiace Super Grandia should fall between the P2.2-2.6 million range, and will come in three trim options: Fabric, Leather, or Elite.

This should prove enticing to buyers looking for a corporate-level Toyota hauler without having to shell out a considerable premium for a Toyota Alphard. How much would you be willing to pay for this?
