The current generation Toyota Hilux isn’t exactly the youngest pickup in the market today. It made its world premiere in 2015 with successive facelifts and technical updates over the last nine years.
Despite its age, the Hilux is still a strong seller thanks to its strong equity. There’s an all-new model that’s expected to arrive sometime in 2025, but that’s not stopping Toyota from fine tuning the truck.

After the launch of the beefier GR-S version, Toyota Motor Philippines turns its attention to the more humble 2.4 G trim level. For the 2024 model year, the mid-spec Hilux now gets the same front end as the more expensive (and loaded) Conquest.
Of course, it doesn’t get the full Conquest look, but the front benefits from a pair of sharper looking LED headlights and a bolder grille design. The 2024 updates aren’t relegated there, either. Also new this year are the larger 18-inch alloy wheels and fender flares. The only thing missing here is the sports bar on the bed to complete the top-spec look.
In terms of equipment, it has automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, push start system, and smart entry. When it comes to safety features, there’s seven airbags, stability control, hill start assist, a reverse camera, and rear parking sensors.
Engines are the same as before, so it’s the familiar 2.4-liter 1GD turbodiesel mill. It’s good for 148hp and 400Nm of torque with a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. The Hilux 2.4 G is strictly two-wheel drive only. For those who want/need four-wheel drive, there’s the spartan 2.4 J 4x4 MT, the 2.8 Conquest (available with both manual and automatic transmissions), and the 2.8 GR-S.
