This is it folks: The prices of pickup trucks are starting to creep up. Toyota is the first to show off its post-tariff prices for its Hilux, and you might want to sit down for this.
Starting this month, all of the dual-cab versions of the Toyota Hilux see a price increase of at least over P100,000. With that, it sets the precedent of what we can expect from other brands.

We’ll start with the one that stings the least, and that would be the Hilux 2.4J 4x2 MT. Pre-tariff, it retailed for P995,000, but now jumps by P103,000 to P1,098,000. One of the more popular variants, the 2.4G 4x2 AT, saw an even greater increase at P268,000. From P1,472,000, the mid-spec Hilux is now listed at P1,740,000.
What about the range-topping 2.8 4x4 GR-S AT, you ask? We tested one recently and carried a sticker price of P2,178,000. Because of the excise taxes, it’s now P302,000 more than before. That represents a hefty increase of 13.87%, bumping it up to P2,480,000. Oh, and that’s not even the variant with the biggest increase.
There is a sliver of good news, though, especially for business owners interested in buying one. The single-cab fleet models are not affected by the additional taxes. That means the cab and chassis, FX, and Cargo variants retain their prices.
