Volkswagen will be presenting a new 2025 Tiguan at the LA Auto Show later this week.
Last year, the German car brand debuted a redesigned Tiguan that featured hybrid variants and era-appropriate tech updates on the inside. That Tiguan never made it to Philippine roads, in fact, the local market has not seen a brand-new Tiguan since 2017.

While Volkswagen Philippines has been hard at work pushing the T-Cross and its lineup of sedans, the global market seems to be rather fond of the Tiguan. VW has only slightly showed what the 2025 Tiguan will have in store, though judging from how extensive last year’s redesign was, a simple facelifted model might just take the stage in LA.
A new taillight design was teased by VW, made up of triangular patterns, similar to what was showcased on the bigger, three-row Volkswagen Tayron which debuted in the North American and European markets last October.

A fully-electric Volkswagen Tiguan is unlikely as the carmaker has placed its EV aspirations into the all-electric ID lineup. The 2024 Tiguan did come in a total of four variants, which included two mild hybrid variants as well as turbocharged gasoline and turbodiesel powerplants. What may come to the 2025 Tiguan is VW’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. Already on a few of the ID models and the new Tayron, this system deepens a car’s capacity for torque, in effect creating a sportier and jumpier driving experience.
Could this be the return of the Volkswagen Tiguan to the Philippine market? If made available locally, it will slide right in between the T-Cross and the Tharu in terms of size. Although it might come into a variability conflict, with three five-seater SUVs that are marginally different in size. Perhaps the new Tayron would be a more suitable fit.
