A big win for the local automotive industry: En Tsumugi ELV Dismantler Corporation has become the first end-of-life vehicle (ELV) dismantling facility in the Philippines to be endorsed by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), promptly receiving a Certificate of Gratitude.

Located in Mexico, Pampanga, the facility will move the needle in responsible waste disposal and recycling of vehicles in the Philippines.

En Tsumugi was cultivated with the support of TMC, through Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP), which provided technical knowledge and business development in many key factors of the facility. A number of Japanese companies also provided financial support and industry expertise.

This project is part of the Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project, an initiative to build a network of ELV dismantling facilities in order to promote proper dismantling and recycling practices on a worldwide scale, ultimately reducing greenhouse gas emissions. En Tsumugi becomes the fourth ELV dismantler in Southeast Asia to receive this recognition from TMC following three from Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

After bestowing the Certificate of Gratitude, TMP president Masando Hashimoto shared: “By promoting the proper dismantling and recycling of end-of-life vehicles, we can avoid pollution, conserve valuable resources, and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.”

Through the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050, TMC aims to be carbon neutral by 2050.

As TMP continues its partnership with En Tsumugi, it has donated five ELVs, including a hybrid electric vehicle, to the facility as a way to advance and deepen its training.
