Toyota, Volkswagen and Daimler are the automotive industry’s three biggest companies, after coming in at 15th, 18th, and 37th, respectively, on Forbes’s annual Global 2000 report of the world’s largest public companies. General Motors and BMW came in at 56th and 57th, respectively, to round out the top five global carmakers.

The rankings take into account 2018 sales, profits, assets, and market value. Industry juggernaut Toyota led the pack with $272.1 billion (P14.28 trillion) in sales, $17.2 billion in profits, $465.6 billion in assets, and $176.6 billion in market value.

All in all, the top five manufacturers combined for over $1 trillion in sales and $43.6 billion in profits last year—a sign that the industry’s in pretty good shape, if you ask us.

Aside from the above-mentioned companies, only two other car manufacturers managed to crack this year’s top 100: Honda Motor at 76th place and SAIC Motor (the only Chinese name in the top 100) at 100th.
