Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) isn’t quite done with its recalls to address faulty Takata airbags just yet. The carmaker has just announced that it is recalling select models of ’90s Accords, CR-Vs, and Legends.
Specifically, 1998-1999 Accord, 1997-1999 CR-V, and 1998 Legend models are being recalled. For a better look, you can check out the table below:
List of Models Being Recalled by Honda Philippines
Model |
Model year |
Number of affected vehicles |
Accord | 1998-1999 | 1,474 |
CR-V | 1997-1999 | 6,889 |
Legend | 1998 | 2 |
Total | 8,365 |
The Takata front driver-side airbag inflators in these models are said to have a tendency to rupture upon deployment due to excessive internal pressure, which, in turn, poses great risk of injury to the person behind the wheel.
HCPI says a recall notification letter will be mailed to the owners of all affected vehicles. If you own any of these models, you may also verify if your car is included by heading over to this website. You only need to input your car’s 17-digit chassis number or vehicle identification number (VIN). As for tips on how to check your vehicle’s VIN, you can read more here.
HCPI assures that the replacement parts and labor for the voluntary recall are free of charge, and that the service is available at all Honda dealerships nationwide. The servicing itself may take up to one hour.
The company’s statement reads: “HCPI apologizes for any inconvenience caused to owners of these vehicles and assures that this voluntary safety recall is conducted to ensure their safety. HCPI would also like to urge owners of the affected Honda models to have their vehicles checked right away.”
