Recently, Land Rover Philippines showcased the Land Rover Defender for two days of simulated outdoor exploration. The Defender Experience at Bonifacio Global City proved that there’s a variant within the model lineup to fit anyone, with the Defender 130 and the Defender 110 PHEV made available for test drives.
Visitors were greeted by a brief exposition of the technology that sets the Defender apart from the competition. After that, a team of expert drivers took passengers through an impressive display of the vehicle’s capabilities.
Metal obstacles and a ramp a few stories high simulate the difficult terrain that adventurous owners will drive the Defender through to get to the perfect camping spot. What requires experience and skill seems too easy with all the technology packed into the premium SUV. All the advanced systems, usually seen as proprietary terms and acronyms seen in brochures, could be experienced firsthand.

On technical tracks where you’d normally require a spotter to guide you out of ruts and uneven surfaces, the 360-degree camera coverage helped eliminate some of the blind spots. Of course, it doesn’t replace another expert driver standing outside spotting a safe passage out of impossible circumstances.
After guests completed the white-knuckle ride, they could watch others go through the same exhilaration while under the shade and enjoying sumptuous snacks and ice cream. Now that’s what it’s like bushwhacking in the wild, in style.
