For almost five years, Mazda Philippines has worked in close collaboration with the Katala Foundation to ensure the survival and promote awareness of the endangered Philippine Pangolin.
The Mazda BT-50 Pangolin Edition was created out of this partnership, and a unit was then donated to the Palawan-based organization. Mazda’s workhorse has since been used to monitor the Pangolin in its native habitat and accomplish other conservation efforts.

This year, Mazda Philippines is joining in all its brand-new BT-50s in the fight to save the Pangolin. For every brand-new BT-50 purchased, Mazda Philippines will donate P1,500 to the Katala Foundation. This, in part, will also fund anti-poaching programs, wildlife rescue initiatives, and more education and awareness efforts.

Katala Foundation director Dr. Sabine Schoppe expressed her excitement for the 1,500 Pangolin Project: “This partnership with Mazda gives us hope, not just for the future of the Philippine Pangolin, but for how meaningful and collective action can make a lasting impact on conservation.”
This also comes at a timely season for the Mazda BT-50 Pangolin as it just received a facelift earlier this year. It now sports a bigger, more refined looking grille and new skid plate. The interior also has an updated layout with mostly black leather upholstery and a relatively rare analog instrument cluster.
Pangolin-warriors have the option between an BT-50 Pangolin AT 4x2 at P1.55 million, or the 4x4 setup for P1.85 million.
